When you have shortlisted two or three flats, Compare puts their Vastu side by side: the score, the verdict, how many good points and issues each has, and the main strengths and concerns. It uses the reports you already have, so it costs nothing extra. This guide uses three made-up sample flats.

## Before you start: scan each flat

Run a [Quick Scan](/blog/vastu-apps/how-to-use-quick-scan) of each flat's floor plan first. Use the plan of the actual unit you are offered, not the brochure layout, and set north from the plan's arrow or a compass reading on site. A comparison is only as good as the scans behind it.

## Step 1: Open Compare

Go to the **Properties** tab and tap **Compare** at the top right.

## Step 2: Tick two or three flats

Each property that can be compared gets a tick circle. Tick two or three, then tap **Compare** at the top. A Compass Check has no tick circle, so scan each flat's plan for this.

## Step 3: Read the comparison

The top row shows each flat's **Vastu score** and **verdict**, and marks the highest score **Best**. Below it, **Good vs issues** counts what each flat has going for it and against it.

In the sample, the first flat and the third are close (61 and 60, both Caution), while the second is an Avoid at 40. **Key highlights** then lists each flat's main strengths and concerns, so you can see *why* they differ.

## How to decide between them

1. **Verdict before score.** An Avoid usually means a Critical defect, which no remedy short of construction fixes. Rule it out first.

- Good: 75–100. No critical defects; any problems are minor or remediable.
- Caution: 41–74. One or more serious problems; remedies help but some trade-offs stay.
- Avoid: 0–40. A Critical defect (which caps a home at 40), or many serious problems.
- Any Critical defect caps a home at 40.

2. **Then the score after remedies.** Two flats at 61 and 60 are effectively level; what matters is how far each can rise, and what the remedies involve. Open each report to see them.
3. **Then the main door.** The entrance carries the most weight of any single room. A flat whose door sits in a favourable pada has a head start.
4. **Then everything Vastu can't see:** light, ventilation, the builder, the price. Vastu is one input to the decision, not the whole of it.

How each room is graded is in [VastuScan's Vastu rules](/blog/basics/vastu-rules).

## Questions people ask

**How many flats can I compare at once?**

Two or three. Scan each flat first; Compare uses the reports you already have, so it doesn't use any credits.

**Which reports can be compared?**

Floor-plan scans of each flat. A Compass Check has no tick box in Compare, so for a like-for-like comparison, run a Quick Scan of each shortlisted flat's plan.

**Should I just pick the flat with the highest score?**

Look at the verdict first. A flat with a Critical defect is an Avoid even if its score looks close to the others. Between flats with the same verdict, compare the score after remedies and what those remedies involve.
