Grades come from VastuScan's published Vastu rules: https://vastuscan.app/blog/basics/vastu-rules

Quick Scan reads a floor plan, places every room in its direction from the centre of the home, and grades each one. It takes a couple of minutes and four things from you: a name, the plan, the outline of the home, and north. This guide walks through each screen, using a made-up sample plan.

## Before you start

Have the floor plan of **your own unit**, as a clear photo or a screenshot of the PDF. A plan with every room named, walls drawn and a north arrow printed gives the best reading. A faint, hand-drawn or unlabelled plan gives a weaker one. If your flat has no plan at all, use Compass Check instead: it maps rooms with your phone's compass.

## Step 1: Start a Quick Scan

On the home screen, tap **Start scan** on the Quick Scan card. One floor uses one credit; your first scan is free.

## Step 2: Name the home

Give it a name you will recognise later, such as "Sunrise Towers 2BHK, 7th floor". The builder and project are optional. For a villa or duplex, pick the number of floors: each floor is read separately.

## Step 3: Upload the floor plan

Tap **Upload floor plan**, then **Choose from gallery** (or **Take photo** if you have the printed plan in hand). One floor per image: if your brochure shows two floors on one sheet, crop them apart first.

Check the plan on screen, then tap **Analyse this floor plan**.

## Step 4: Crop to the home only

The app draws a box around what it thinks is the home. **Check it.** On the sample plan, the first box cut off a toilet and the entrance foyer:

Drag each corner until the box sits on the outer walls. Leave out the title, the key plan and any tables. This step matters: the centre of the home is worked out from this box.

## Step 5: Place the centre

Tap **Place compass**. Drag the compass so its middle sits on the centre of the home, then tap **Lock the centre**. For a plain rectangle, that is where the crop box's diagonals cross. For an L-shaped flat it is not, so take a moment here.

## Step 6: Point the N to true north

Twist the compass until the gold **N** points the same way as the north arrow printed on the plan. Use the 1° and 45° buttons for small and large turns. The sample plan's arrow points straight up, so north stays at 0°.

If the plan has no arrow, or you doubt it, take a compass reading inside the flat and set north from that. Then tap **Start analysis**. It keeps running if you leave the screen.

## Step 7: Read the report

The top of the report gives the Vastu score, the verdict and the score after remedies. These are the bands the verdict comes from:

- Good: 75–100. No critical defects; any problems are minor or remediable.
- Caution: 41–74. One or more serious problems; remedies help but some trade-offs stay.
- Avoid: 0–40. A Critical defect (which caps a home at 40), or many serious problems.
- Any Critical defect caps a home at 40.

The sample flat scored 61, a Caution, with no Critical defect, and would reach 76 if its remedies were carried out.

Scroll down for two lists. **What's good about this property** shows the rooms in good positions, each with a "Could be better" tip:

**Issues to be aware of** shows each room marked Concern, why, and its remedy, labelled no cost or low cost:

At the end, **Can the issues be fixed?** answers in one paragraph, and **Save as PDF** gives you a copy to share with family or your architect.

## Step 8: Ask Deesha about this home

Tap **Ask Deesha** on the report or on the property card. She has read the report, so you can ask why a room scored the way it did, or what to fix first. The suggested questions are a good place to start.

## Three things that make the reading better

- **A clean crop.** Rooms outside the box are left out, and a wrong box moves the centre.
- **The right north.** Every direction in the report hangs on it. A brochure arrow can be wrong; a reading in the flat settles it.
- **A readable plan.** Room names the app can read, walls between rooms, sizes printed. What it cannot read confidently, the report says.

## Questions people ask

**How much does a Quick Scan cost?**

A Quick Scan uses one credit per floor. Your first Quick Scan (or Compass Check) is free, along with five questions to Deesha and the PDF report. Credits never expire and work in any mode.

**What if my floor plan has no north arrow?**

Find north in the flat itself with a phone compass set to true north, then twist the compass on the plan to match. If you can't visit the flat, ask the builder for a plan with a north arrow before you rely on any reading.

**Why did my report say a room is Concern when the builder called the flat Vastu-compliant?**

Builders often mean the main door or one room. The report grades every room it can read, in the direction it actually falls from the centre you set. A Concern is something to look at, usually with a remedy, not a reason to panic.
